The lead guide of the group is incharge of the safety of the group. One by one each of the group members make their way up the glacier slopes guided by the path created by the leader.

Fox Glacier is a 13 kms long glacier on the west cost of New Zealand's South Island. All groups visiting this glacier need to be briefed with health and safety instructions. This group prepares for their adventure on ice with a briefing from their leader. The surrounding ice slops reflect light to reveal a dark aqua colour through the mostly muddy surface.

The group leader performs a balancing act and braves the steep slopes of the glacier to create footholds for the group to explore untouched parts of the glacier.
