Journal of a Glacier Walk

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

The glacier provided some stunning sights along the way. On the way back down to the base, the group walks past a deep pool of aqua coloured water. Such pools are created by large rocks that cascade down from mountain slops and rest on the glacier. Rocks absorb the heat from the sun and melt the glacier ice to create the void which fills with fresh water.
