Munich, the Beer capital of the world. We arrived mid afternoon after a stop over in Salzberg where the sound of music was made. We choose not to stay there overnight for that reason.
First night we were there Germany were playing Turkey in the Eurocup semi final. Germany has the second highest population of turkish people outside Turkey and Munich has the most Turkish people in Germany so it didnt really matter who won cos it was going to be a big night either way. (Germany won..)
Next day there we went on a free bike tour of the city and saw the major sights including the Hofbrauhous which is the second largest beer hall in the world (the largest is also in Munich). We also rode through the English gardens which is one of the largest parklands in Europe and also has the largest beer garden in the world. There is a nice river that runs through the garden and all the nudists come out every day. It was a bit wet so there were none there on the day but our guide told us about a guy called Tripod who comes out and does a bit of a show every day for the tour. We were kind of glad he wasnt there, haha. On the same river there is also a surfing wave. It is where all the water is channeled into a small river and makes a wave. We watched the surfers for ages, it was really cool to see.
We had lunch in the gardens at the beer garden and had a drinking contest, where I came second behind the guide... Food was pretty average though, and expensive. We saw a lot of other things relating to Hitler during the tour as this was where he started his political campaign and the NAZI party. It was very interesting and we also saw where him and his politicians tried to take over the government and the spot where he was almost shot but his body guard dived and took the bullet. World would of been a much different place if that had got him...
Krystal got a bit excited when we walked up Maximillian Platz (street) which is ment to be the most expensive shopping street in the world. The whole street was lined with designer shops aswell as ferrari's, porsches etc.. You could spot the Aussies cos we were walking around having a stubbie.
The next day was really hot, we were planning on going to a town called Dachau which was a concentration camp, but we slept in. Instead we went to the Munich Beach, which is just a river with lots of rocks. It was a pretty nice spot though and very relaxing.
