Our Travels

Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Phen

CAMBODIA | Sunday, 10 June 2007 | Views [1153]

We got up really early on Sunday morning to catch our transfer from the hotel to the airport. We left at 5:30, we both haven't been up that early for a while so it was a little tiring.

We got to the airport and checked in 2hours prior so we where early again. We then went and had breaky next to this place called Poppie's and it even played the cartoon while you were eating. It didn't serve spinich though which Candice thought was bizzar. However I don't see many people going there if they did.

The airport was really nice and big, you can see everything and where you had to be. We bought a new memory card due to our other one being FULL with Disneyland.

We boarded our flight on Cathay and where on our way.
Candice had no one sitting in front of her, (no one putting their seat back) so she was happy for once.

We got to Ho Chi Minh City and had to wait for our coneccting flight, a whole 7 hours. The airport was VERY basic. We thought it would have good internet, being an airport but we were wrong. It was so slow. In the whole hour that we booked Jamie got to read one email and see the footy scores. I got nothing done. Mine kept dropping out and taking FOREVER to load a page, so we gave up.

Only Jamie got some sleep in the airport, he doesn't know how with how uncomfortable the seats were.
We finally boarded our flight to Phnom Pehn on one of the prop engine planes. It was different from the other aircraft we have caught.
It was such a long wait for such a short trip, it was only 40mins.

When we got to Phnom Phen we caught a taxi to our hotel and checked in.
We were sopposed to meet with our Geckos tour group at 6:30pm but our flight only got in at 6pm. We had to apply for our visa when we got there so that took time. We were stressing so much about getting our visas but it was really simple. Just fill out a form, pay your money and go.

We met up with our tour leader later in the evening and he told us where to go and what to do for the next morning. His name is Dorn, he's Cambodian so he knew his way around very well.

They had put us in a room with two single beds, so Jamie had some room in bed for once. Plus I finally had all the blankets - nice change!
