Alright, so Mexico has been pretty much a whirlwind experience.
We have seen SO many Churches and LOTS and LOTS of awesome colorful art.
We spent a couple of days in Mexico City looking at churches and anywhere someone told us to go to.
We left Mexico and headed on a bus to Puebla. We were SO dreading the public transport, thinking it would be SO crowded and chickens everywhere. However Mexico has this bus company called ADO and it's the BEST bus we have ever been on. There is SO much leg room and when someone puts there seat back it DOESN'T affect you, it's GREAT!
We spent a night in Puebla which is our tour leaders home town. So he showed us the city by walking around. He then took us to a real 'hippy/alternative' area where up coming designers and awesome pubs where. We went to this real Mexican pub where Victor (tour leader) made us try the best Sangria ever. It tasted like soft drink so after having 4 and not feeling anything it soon crept up on us because they hit us for 6 when they kicked in! (Bit like our horse at home, hey Desleigh!)
We then headed to this really nice place for dinner where, if anyone knows Candice she loves Lasagna, she had the best one ever there.
The next day we caught another comfortable bus to Oaxaca (Wahaka). We had lunch and had a walk around the town. We got to see another Church and went to the markets. They sell such awesome things. There is so much colour and vibrancy with all the stuff they sell. It's pretty cheap and we could buy so many things, but haven't due to having NO room in our backpacks!
That night we got on an overnight bus to St Cristobel where we stayed at this really Mexican looking town. The room we where staying in a a HUGE double bed about 2.4 meters wide. So Jamie had some bed for once!
We spent 2 nights there. The next day on Candice’s birthday we went to a lake with huge canyons. We got to go on a speed boat ride up the lake for about an hour. It was a bit boring but the canyons were huge. The bus driver then took us to this little town where we had to wait and hour before heading back to the city. So we all sat down and had a cold beer to pass the time. That night we went out for dinner for Candice’s birthday. Everyone tried singing in Spanish but didn't work, so it was back to the English one instead. She got a tiramisu piece of cake and some of the group bought her a chocolate rat for a cake! It was chocolate so of coarse she'll eat it.
The next day we caught the bus to Palenique, which is a really nice beachy looking village even though there wasn't a beach! We went to Palenque ruins which where the coolest temples we have seen as they are up in the mountains and has a totally different feel.
The next day we caught the bus to Merida which is where we are right now. We went out for dinner last night to a restaurant called Panchos which was great food. Other then that we are having a blast.
Will update you all again soon.
