Went Home Depot shopping for plants preceded by a quick look at plants etc, at an Annandale Nursery, but there was little of interest here for us, though we did get some good ideas. We than moved on the the Annandale Home Depot and collected enough plants and accessories to fill our two cars. These were mostly to complete the front of the house, although there were a few for the rear as well.
The only thing we were unable to obtain was the sod (I think we would call it roll on lawn) and that was going to be a potential problem, because deliveries of this sod, into the stores was not predicted till Thursday or Friday, ie one or two days before the wedding. We hoped for the best and you'll need to view the next episode, to see what occurred.
So, we worked enthusiastically and got the front yard done, with its four conifers now planted in faux (plastic) wine barrel tubs, surrounded by annuals. It has completely transformed the front of the house, which until now was fairly stark and without any sort of relief.
Had a chat to the "across the road" neighbours after we'd finished the work and they commented on our productivity. Thank you. They are a good crowd - there seems to be a small group of them who work together and they call into Edgar's house most afternoons after work for a beer. They are roofing workers I think and one of them (a fellow named Antonio) offered to do any work on Leanne and Brian's roof, if it was ever needed, for the cost of material only. Always good to have friendly neighbours !
