Walkabout 2011

Day 9 - Thursday 11 Aug 11

A near death day !

Both Marg and I are feeling crook and it wasn't until late afternoon that we felt able to venture outside and go for a walk around the block.  I took some photos of the post boxes I mentioned yesterday and noted that they come in the x8 and x16 varieties.  There is one of each at the end of Leanne's street, servicing the whole block I guess.

Brian cooked tea - with a japanese flavour, it was spring rolls, tuna sashimi and miso soup with eggplant.  Unusual to our experience, but very enjoyable.

We share this house with three pets, Gizmo the Boston Terrier, who we'd met before, as well as a cat named Lady Georgia (Guardian of the Holy Light) and temporarily, Sterling a cat from a foster agency.  While the first two are permanent residents, Sterling is here probably until he is found a permanent home.  Leanne and Brian have volunteered to act as foster "parents" to a variety of cats (one at a time generally), who are waiting for adoption.  So they have had a number of cats resident at their house for different periods.  At the moment, Georgia and Sterling both tolerate Gizmo, who seems a little afraid of cats and their terrible claws, but they (Sterling and Georgia) do enjoy a stoush amongst themselves whenever they have the energy.  While Sterling is slightly bigger, he is toothless so the fights are fairly evenly matched.  No one seems to know how he came to be sans teeth, but it doesn't slow him down too much - he still manages to enjoy cat biscuits if there are any left in the other's bowl.

Hoping we can get on top of whatever this bug is doing to us and have more productive days soon.
