I felt slightly better today, but Marg was laid low, so nothing was done around the house.
I went for a walk in the morning, exploring the local neighbourhood. Among a few oddities I noticed, was the complete absence of fellow adventurers - unsurprisingly I guess, there is a culture of car dependency and as a result it is rare to see any pedestrians. The other unusual feature here is the centralising of mail deliveries. Instead of delivering mail to individual homes, the USPS has a number of grouped mail boxes placed around neighbourhoods, into which they place mail. Homeowners have keyed access to their own box, within one of these collections of mail boxes and collect their mail when they wish. It is probably labour saving on the part of the USPS and would certainly be of use in multi story buildings, but it's also used in single house locations.
Walked into Springfield in the PM and re-experienced the delight of playing with the traffic when the pedestrian lights aren't working. There's one set of lights at the junction of Franconia/Springfield Road exit and Backlick Road that are completely unresponsive to the activating button on the cross walk and if you want to cross that road, you do it nervously. I try to follow the kids, but they're often too quick for me.
When Leanne got home last night we went to Target to have a look at their collection of Kindle e-book readers and also took the opportunity to gather in fresh supplies of flu medicines.
