    Streets are a major place of commerce thoughout India; a place of social interaction and economic activity. Street markets are typically on the side of the roads, where women sit on the ground and sell one or two types of fruits and/or vegetables. by: isabelp Views[1077] Merchants are seen all over Indian cities and towns. Selling food, sweets and nuts via a cart is common practice and an important part of Indian daily life. This old man has been working and making a living with his wagon for over 50 years. by: isabelp Views[1193] It is very common to see barbers set up their Many blacksmiths can be seen working in the streets of India. They simply insert a grate into a hole dug in the ground and a simple hand crank blower is then usually operated by his wife or a son. Unfortunately this job alone is not enough to support a whole family thus it is usual for them to have a second occupation. by: isabelp Views[913] Women make up about half of the construction labor force in India. Men do the heavy machinery and building work, while women carry the construction materials (sand, bricks and stones). While these women may look slim and weak, due to years of hard work, they have incredible physical strength. by: isabelp Views[1462]
