It is very common to see barbers set up their "shop" under trees, alleys and on the side of main streets. Barbers purify and clean others so they have a respectable position among India´s social cast.

Women make up about half of the construction labor force in India. Men do the heavy machinery and building work, while women carry the construction materials (sand, bricks and stones). While these women may look slim and weak, due to years of hard work, they have incredible physical strength.

Streets are a major place of commerce thoughout India; a place of social interaction and economic activity. Street markets are typically on the side of the roads, where women sit on the ground and sell one or two types of fruits and/or vegetables.
