The bells, and birds

FRANCE | Wednesday, 7 May 2014 | Views [168]

Just had 2 days of good British summer weather.Got sunburn on my neck from Saturday when the wind was so bitter I Didn't take off my coat!, Being on the third floor facing north, this place will be lovely and cool when it gets warmer but at the moment in the shade I think it's a lot cooler than it is andwalk into much warmer air at street level.  Of course all this warm weather has the birds tweeting non stop, a good dozen going at any one time including the cuckoo. There is so little traffic noise -nothing to drown them out. Prats is about the  size of a small village and tourist orientated is not in full swing yet. This place was full at the weekend, bank holiday on 1st and  another this Thursday. but is quiet now. Back to the bells. Chimes on the quarter 1, 2 , 3 times 4 for tbe hour then the time and in case you got your bells in a twist it strkes the time again after it just did it about a minute later. Also various peals have gone off presumably to summon the righteous. Luckily it stops at midnight and restarts at 7am.  As well as that there is a herd of cows in a field by the road all with bells jangling every time they move. ?.thats a good bit further than the clock so luckily can't hear them from here.  Did a 2 hour wander 2 days ago and paid for it yesterday, so today started off again one of these takes 30min to go 800 yards up hill and then its 3 miles back down, this time by road..ish but my knee dont like going downhill, so did this one the wrong way around. I was going so slow I caught a pair of snakes-too green to be slow worms-entwined in flagrante on the road side. Didn't slither off till I was nearly beside them. Reckon better have a few more days rest before resuming my immersion in nature, 0
