Shropshire lambs

Only a day old... ahh
Invited by a colleague from work to come and see how lambing went. so headed off, getting lost despite the satnav down the shropshire lanes. Plenty of practice reversing but three point turns are still 5 or 7 point, but thats the price of non powered steering.Had a lovely week hosted by Claudia and Bob. Not into the midwifery bit ,but kept them hayed and watered. they had a quiet start to lambing with about a hundred born while I was there. They always look so cute and fluffy in pictures but they seem to take a few days to dry out, and then there is the problems of mums or lambs not quite knowing what to do. They live in a beautiful spot with a roman fort at the top of the hill above them. A potential afternoon stroll- until the night the first lambs went out and it started to sleet. This time the sheep had a bit of sense and were sheltering under a hedge at the upper edge of the lower field, bringing down six sheep and their twin offspring by torch light in the cold and wet- enough to put you off hill walking for ever. Another night just when going to bed 1ish looked down to the sheds and 50 ewes had decided to visit their mates in the top shed- another night of chaos. For some reason I couldn't work out the heating on the van and puting the light on started the fan going, So though very snug in my sleeping bag it was a rush to get dressed each day. After a week I realised that I has been turning the fridge gas isolator not the heating one...stupid me. And a trip to a repair center showed be the fan switch needed to be central not either end....need I say more!¬
