The bus trip down from Bangkok was long and hot, but the thing I notice about travellers, especially the more "mature" ones, is that they are so friendly! Everyone chatted away, and were so interested in my story and what I was doing. I certainly haven't had a chance to feel lonely yet. I made friends with the gorgeous and funny Anna, and her husband Sture (call me Jon, it's easier!) a swedish GP and nurse. We checked into the same hotel, where we still are, and they are like my oldest and dearest friends, travel relationships seem to be like that, short lived but intense. They leave in a few days as their visa is due to expire, and I will move on down the island to the perfect and cheap bungalow I have found at KaeBae beach.
Meanwhile I am enjoying their company, the laughs and the stories as they have travelled to nearly every country in the world. Have had my first dose of 'Delhi belly' or Thai belly, not sure what you call it here! Think it might have been the scallops I had on the beach the other night, and I have to say they weren't a patch on Nelson scallops! Never mind it had to happen sooner or later. Feeling much better today, back to the beach and the pool, and maybe a bit more exploring. It is very relaxing here, the scenery is beautiful, the people friendly, and that's exactly what I came here for. LOVING IT......
