We finally get rained upon. the weather turns just a little nasty to
make camping on the ridge line in the rocks and snow, ready for A
Final Ascent anything remotely close to what even the most devilish of
masochists might call fun. then we lose the trail. doesn't matter
really as our final destination now comes a day early, and is
northeast "just over there". hmmmmm. several hours later, through a
mix of sunshine and howling rain, bizarre buses broken down in random
fields, a military complex that we have to carefully skirt around, and
crazy old women, we emerge at the edge of civilisation.
A car slows and a man nonchalantly emerges, deliberately taking his
time for dramatic effect. "Are you walking the St. Paul Trail?,
because İ have a Pension in Eğirdir." Tired, wet and cold, facing the
prospect of waiting for a Dolmuş to arrive then wandering through town
to find somewhere to stay, it was an apt end to a trek where plans
changed hourly, nothing was particularly certain, but everything fell
into place perfectly. İt had to happen. İt was bound to come to an end
eventually. when every moment is breathtaking, you need to come back
to The Real World for air sometime.
and thus ends The Wend, Series 3. i trust i can count on your support
for the next series. things are just about to start getting
interesting.
hugs and love from A Trek Through Turkey.
