Galapagos here I come

ECUADOR | Saturday, 16 November 2013 | Views [238]

Early wake up call for flight to Galapagos Island. Flying to Baltra Island. Met with the rest of the cruise people. Yes, aversge age of 60 :-). Happy to be around them, all very interesting people. And saying that, they are all American!
Once on the galapagos and after a small bus and zodiac ride I enter the National Geographic Endevaour boat. What a treat!! Never imagined it would be this nice. I have my own cabin with 2 beds. Small but cute. Love the boat windows.
So after numerous talks about the trip, the people and security measures (including a evacuation drill) we gather around for lunch and meet people.
After lunch and a small break we are taken by zodiac to Las Bachas beach on Baltra Island. Nice white sand and nice blue sea. Wonderful.
Naturalists takes us along the beach showing us crabs, pelicans, tortoise nests, flamingos and Darwin finches. It's incredible how much knowledge these guides/naturalists have. After walk we have the opportunity to take a swim in the clear waters. Temperature is nice and about 10 of us do so. At sundown we are picked up again to return to the boat. A small talk about next days activities followed by a nice dinner are what we all need to get us ready for bed. It's been a long day full of new experiences.
