I wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of pouring rain. Since there are no windows the noise is very loud. It's quite nice to hear it but I don't get much sleep. So as the day is wet my walk in the jungle is cancelled due to the danger of falling branches. Instead I head out to see a butterfly farm from one of the competitor lodges. After a small canoe ride me and Cesar arrive. Walk through the village and enter an area which has loads of flowers with netting around it.
We walk in and we are greeted by quite a few butterflies flying around. I'm already fascinated by all the colors flapping around. We get a small explanation from one of the workers about the life cycle of a butterfly. They carry 27species in this farm. It seems some are only born to live 3 days and the most time a butterfly is alive is for 6weeks. Short time for the elaborate proces they have to go through to be born!
Some of The butterflies are huge and come and sit on me. They are a little bit scary to be honest.
But after 2h walking around I have taken about 200pictures in different angels! The weather continues to be nasty. So we get picked up by the canoe and taken back to the logde. Today there are 16 people coming. Its very strange after being the only guest for 2days. So we now have Argentinians and French added to the mix.
After lunch and a siesta we are told we are recieving the visit of a Chaman this evening. The Chaman is the indigenous Master/Wizzard/Doctor. They have very specific rituals which are spiritual. We were introduced to a ritual of cleansing a soul. One of The Frenchies volunteered and The Chaman offerd a ritual for 15min. It was fascinating to watch, not sure how much truth there was to it :-). But glad to see some local indigenous rituals.
Diner came after and I was soon going back to my room for some sleep. It was still raining but i had got very used to The sound by now.
