THe 30th was an extremely relaxing day, as relaxation and copacabana go hand in had..basically we spent the day lazing in the sun, running a few errons, playing the guitar and reading books in hammocks..this was all done whilst basking in the unseasonably warm weather and lake titicaca..we ate a delicious dinner at the hotstel restauraunt and had an extremely early night.
On the 31st will an i caught a boat at 8 out to the isle of the sun..lac was supposed to come but was vomitting uncontrollably for some unkown reason. the boat right out was a bit of a nightmare, the boat going about 2 km an hour and a mass of uber tourists..the journey took 2 hours (it cold have taken 15mins) but once we got there it was amazing. The island lookeed more like the greek isles cross the moon rather than bolivia and once we began the 5 hour treck, petrol fumes cleared from our throats all was well..we werent exactly sure where we were heading, but as long as we made the departing boat at 3.30 all would be well..
We took off up the mountains in search of runins and came across some authentic astec runins (isle de sol being the birth place of the incas). We trecked for the rest of the day with the treck being more difficult than anticipated (will did it in thongs and boardies).
We met a nice lad who lived in boulder on he way home and had beers with him looking iver the lake to finish the treck and once we were back o the boat we stripped down 2 our undies in front of all the ubers and dived off the front of the boat into the freezing but amazingly clear and pristine water..the boat ride back was beautiful, sitting up on front of the boat in the sun and chatting shit with the american..that night we took it easy again and were up in time for our 8am bus to arequipa (peru).
The bus ride was fucking long but the boarde was fun, always exciting getting a new stamp in the pasport..we arrived in arequpa that evening (friday) and checked into our litle hostel in the middle of town. We had beers (will stayed in) and lach and i went out to sample the night life (whihc as is suggested is not for the feint hearted). It was a great night out, met some really nice locals (no gringos were out which was amazing) so we were treated like celebrities by the women and hated by the men..perfect..
We cruiseed the city the next day..its a beautiful city with huge mountains acting as a back drop to the beautiful churches and casstles..we ran a few errons and then had beers on the roof top with lucia. We played cards and watched the colors change from blue to purple to yellow of the 6000 m mountain sitting on our shoulders.
Lach was still in a bad way from the night before (he seems to be spewing everytime he drinks, hopefully nothing too serious) so will and i went at it again..Again we went to a couple of beautiful cluds, one with a waterfall and 4 leveels..we were drinkning with a couple of english girls but they turned out to be a little straight and so we bailed on them and were subsequently literlly chased down but a californian, NZ and local who wanted us to party for a bit longer..so we obliged and picked thisngs up a notch..we got home at some ungodly hour and got up at 7 to catch the bus to cuscio..it ws a epic day ride (11 hours and the bus stank but it was an experience in controlling bodily functions and bladders and gag reflexes are stronger for the experience)..
We met up with a couple of english friends for dinner and had an early night..at 3am they fucking fund our room and somehow let themselves in (which we still dont understand as the door was locked)..they tried to get into bed with us and as such i faked vomitting so they would leave..it worked a treat..
the next day we walked the city (which is beautful with churches and castles an cobblestone streets), had full body massages (unfortuately no happy ending) bought some cloths and a few souviners and settled in for an afternoon of drikning and getting to some new people..
