Oh I'm on a roll...muhahaha...

This one is terribly short:

I was talking with another volunteer here yesterday and he was pondering a question that I myself have ponder time and again. I'd not shared it, but thought I might as well take a moment to lob it out there and see what y'all think.

Why are there so extremely few black people volunteering from other nations around the word to help here in Haiti - a nation whose population is certainly at least 90% black? In all I can remember perhaps 6 or 7 black people coming thru the doors to work with All Hands (of c. 1,100 volunteers that have passed thru this compound).

I have ideas, but I don't want to color (ahem) your responses by posting them just yet. None of them seem to hold much water without making huge sweeping and negative generalizations about the nature of black folk - something that tends to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
