Tomorrow I go on break for 4 days. Will type up a new report on Saturday or Sunday. I need the break. Me and another fellow are heading to Jakmal to a motel. Just can't handle the idea of camping right now. I need some creature comforts...like a bed and a variety of food and people that don't smell constantly of sweat and labor and exhaustion.
Not sure if I'll bring the computer to jot notes or not. We'll see tomorrow when I'm packing. Must weatherize and lash down the tent for the time away so I have a room to come home (did I just use that term????) to on Saturday.
We looked at School 4 today and met with the community to get everyone on the same page regarding expectations of the building and the building process itself...ie, we want the community to help us build it as volunteers (no pay, as we are). After we went on to a Germain NGO to look at a shelter they want us to build for them as a waiting room for their field hospital and another one for a local 70yr old wheelchair bound Nun in the area that's slipping thru the cracks and nobody will help put a roof over her head. In steps the hero: HODR !! I LOVED that feeling and I'm high on it even now. That's what I live for: fook the redtape bs backslapping buddy buddy monarchy cya mutha suckas that can't help a little ole lady get outta the rain. Step aside, bucko and let someone with some cahones get in there and make some sawdust FLY, BABY, FLY!
Okay, off to Joe's for my nightly mango spritzer, and to put together an itinerary for the mental health break. Something like: read, sleep in, lounge by the pool, take a loooong shower, eat a burger, drink a truly cold cold cold beverage, rinse and repeat X3. PERFECT!
Much love to all and Sally, I'll work on answering your question in the next post...travel here is...interesting to say the least.
Cheers!
Mike
