My Scholarship entry - Watching the Wheels

I never planned on taking up photography: words like aperture, ISO & bokeh as well as SLR cameras intimidated me. But one day during my day job as a corporate trainer, a friend coaxed me into trying it out. There I was shooting on full manual mode and five minutes later I was smitten.
I find the world from behind the lens amazing. I can capture a fleeting moment, look at it from a completely different angle, capture light and shadows. My collection ‘Watching the Wheels’ is just that. It records a moment in the life of a street vendor as he waits for his next sale. The vendor watches hundreds of wheels going by, every one of them a potential customer.
The scholarship combines three things I love doing; travel, photography and the opportunity to learn. I have no formal training and the chance to be mentored by Jason would be unbelievable. While learning stuff from friends or the internet is great, receiving instruction from a professional and interacting with a team from Nat Geo would be a dream come true.
