Muthukumara, the cobbler, says mending shoes is the only job he has ever done. Although the trade has been in the family for three generations, he hopes it ends with him. He wants his three daughters to find good jobs that, hopefully, pay more than the Rs. 1000 (US$8) he makes in a day.
