Day 174: 400 Rubles

MONGOLIA | Friday, 8 July 2016 | Views [207] | Comments [1]

A hot day at the lake, checked out at noon and went to Irkutsk town to sight see before a two day train to Mongolia. We stopped off at a grocery store to get supplies and hanging out a car window driving past we hear "Australia!" and it was the drunk russians from last night (still drunk it would seem) bahahaa. Started our sight seeing with lunch then moved on to cathedrals, rivers, bridges, german beer house and then the London Pub for dinner. While having dinner a chinese man started a commotion over a 400 rubles ($6) difference on his bill than yesterday. He threw the money down on the table, while yelling "400 rubles? you think I crazy!?? You must think I crazy!! (insert the accent for maximum enjoyment) and he got right up in the waitress' face. I couldn't sit and watch anymore so I approached him, helping the girl out telling him to calm down (like 8 times) at which he started at me "400 rubles? Ha 400 rubles!? Then Mike yells out "500 rubles!!!". Everyone laughed and he got the message that no one cared and he went off to the manager to complain some more. You'd be proud of me Angela :) Got to the station and boarded our train straight away - a hot box with air con (which they would turn on later that night) but think we might have been in 1st class this trip. Two nights and then we'll be in Mongolia.

Hahaha! Love this story. I wish I had seen it. And I am always proud of you......the train adventures sound like so much fun. So many drunk Russians! xox
