Seyhan plays in the tobacco leaves while her mother stitches them together using a specially designed sewing machine. Tobacco farming is particularly difficult but it is the main source of income for the villagers.

Bekir proudly holds up a Turkish flag. Although many villagers have never travelled out of Macedonia and their culture is a unique combination of South Eastern European and Ottoman, they still identify themselves as being Turkish.

Fatime cracks walnuts in her yard. These will be packaged and set aside for her children and grandchildren when they come to visit from other countries. Fatime's generation are accustomed to lives of hard and consistent work.
