Bekir proudly holds up a Turkish flag. Although many villagers have never travelled out of Macedonia and their culture is a unique combination of South Eastern European and Ottoman, they still identify themselves as being Turkish.

The bride and groom make their way past an old mosque on their way to the village registry office. Weddings in Konce are becoming increasingly modern and westernised - even if certain elements appear to be incongrous at times

Seyhan plays in the tobacco leaves while her mother stitches them together using a specially designed sewing machine. Tobacco farming is particularly difficult but it is the main source of income for the villagers.
