The Beach

BRAZIL | Monday, 22 February 2010 | Views [687] | Comments [7]

Have spent the last few days utterly chilling on the beach in Northern Brazil.  For the last couple of weeks we have been travelling with two girls we met in our first hostel, and the five of us decided to head to Praia do Forte for some relaxation after Carnival.  Very sensible decision....it´s amazing here.  The place is a fairly small beach resort, full of good restaurants, nice hotels and surrounded by incredible beaches.  Whilst the boys have spent time watching football and generally being lads, the girls and I have mostly been working on our tans on the beach every day.  We´ve taken full advantage of the perfectly warm sea and the men with their makeshift beach bar serving tropical cocktails throughout the day.

Tans now developing very well (although some of us did have to negotiate a phase of brilliant burn...no names mentioned), and so we took a break from the beach this morning for a few hours of canoeing. Josh got lumbered with some unfortunate companions in his canoe, but other than that we had a great time, especially with our two Brazilian canoe guides Raphael and Jefferson, with whom at one stage we managed to negotiate a sister-exchange between him and Dan

We´ll be maximising beach/cocktail time tomorrow as it´s our last day here, before a day of travelling in order to make our way to Iguacu Falls, and a hostel with pool parties every night.  Safe to say that time out is officially almost over

Can imagine how much your beach rest has been needed and appreciated. Dad's still recovering from two hours 'partying' at the X-Factor show last night (see your email for a full report) never mind a week of carnival-ing! Enjoy your last day on the beach darling. Lots of love xxx

Can't stress enough the danger of over-sun-tanning,apart from health warnings, premature wrinkles, G-D forbid, for the rest of it just enjoy your time out! Good to know that you keep on meeting nice people. My most exciting time has been spent watching Rugby. We are going to be in Spain until March 19th.
Hugs & kisses from me GMH.

I am so amazingly jealous! I have been unable to comment on your blog before because I have been busy being literally green with envy (this may possibly be a slight excuse for my useless-ness at keeping in touch, but only slight) Sounds like you're having the most amazing time - hope it continues at Iguacu. Nothing nearly as exotic going on here, although I did go into some estate agents at the weekend to start looking at flats. That's almost the same as sitting in the sea drinking cocktails....

Unberlievably jealous - my tan is non existent and I am not going on a beach holiday until end of August. The carnival sounded absolutely amazing. I hope you get enough chilling out before the next party. Put more photos up please! Miss you and looking forward to hearing more xxx
