My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Japan | Saturday, January 12, 2013 | 5 photos
I remember when I was a kid and used look through the pages of National Geographic, eyes full of wonder at the meticulously shot photos, every single hair follicle in flawless focus. I loved how the glossy pages told me how different people lived around the globe, their hardships; their passions. How the photographer enabled me to gaze into the eyes of a beast safely in my own living room. National Geographic sparked a deep love for photography in me and helped me decide what I wanted to do as a career.
Photography is such a unique medium. It gives us the ability to freeze time and explore any given moment. Macro photography allows us to magnify nature to an extent that the human eye can not see. It’s hard for me to see an insect without instantly wanting to catch it and probe it with my lens. Magnified they can look so absolutely beautiful and their anatomy so alien.
For the last two years I have lived in Japan. Living abroad has allowed me to travel around and immerse myself in new cultures. Now that I have seen a tiny fraction of the world I don't want to rest until I have seen all of it! I would be so humbled and honored if I could learn from Jason Edwards.
