Hikers start their descent at daybreak. Around 300,000 people come to climb one of japans most famous national symbols every year.

The top of the Mountain has a Temple and Torii gate signaling a successful hike to the climbers. Reaching the summit by sunrise is a key part of the entire excursion. It's described as seeing the sun rise over a sea of clouds. The sunrise from the top of Mt. Fuji is so powerful it is considered a deity and is called Goraiko.
