    The Sher Derwaza (Lion’s Gate) wall which used to surround the city of Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital and largest city, still stands winding across the city’s mountains. Sher Darwaza is believed to have been built in the 5th century. Students at the studio learn ballet, tap, and Afghan dance. Typically men and women are seated in different rooms. There are musical performers so that guests can dance. Afghan weddings are elaborate, lasting 3 to 7 days, hosting a range of 600 to 2,000 guests daily. An average of about $20,000 is spent by the groom on the celebration and dowry, normally leaving the groom in debt.
