Looooong travel day today!!! Eleven-plus hours to Incheon South Korea airport. Decided I needed a coffee there, so we stopped at a little coffee kiosk. I usually make a rule to try the thing that looks most unusual or represents the most "local color" of a place. So I had a Sweet Potato latte. Yup. Smelled and tasted like roasted sweet potato. I put some cinnamon on it. It was delicious.

Five hour flight to Bangkok. Sooo exhausted. Warm and humid here, clearly just had rained. In the cab ride to the hotel, all the cars just stopped for five or ten minutes. We were told we were waiting for the king to pass by up ahead. He is much loved in Thailand, and it is expressly forbidden to make any disparaging comments or show any disrespect to the royal family or images of them.

Our hotel is fantastic. We stayed here last time we were in town, and it's been renovated since then. Lovely way to start the trip. We were greeted with hot tea and warm washcloths on a tray with an orchid. I love this place. Tomorrow the world is our oyster. Exploring day!!
