Sweden - Kalmar & Karlskrona

SWEDEN | Wednesday, 27 September 2017 | Views [412] | Comments [2]

Drove east from Vaxjo to the historic town of Kalmar famous for its excellent moated castle. Managed to park up overnight looking out to sea and the castle, a perfect pitch! Very impressed with castle, lots of areas open to the public including the ornate kings chamber, the chapel, the queens chamber and the huge banqueting hall. Also walked through the small old town, the park and the lovely new town. Great stopover. Left next day and drove to the naval town Karlskrona. Explored the islands that make up the town by bike and checked out the old naval buildings. The town is still a navy base so a large area is well protected and inaccessible. Left Karlskrona to continue south and found at great beach stopover at Ahus.

Sweden is very relaxed about stopovers and camping so unless it specifically says no motorhomes you can stay pretty much anywhere, and we have been! So we were allowed to stay at this fantastic stopover! Mark won't take the bet because he knows he will lose! See you soon, Love d xx
