Travelled down the country along lake Vattern, the second largest lake in Sweden and reputed to have a lake monster similar to Nessie. We didn't see the monster but enjoyed the lovely scenery and the picturesque towns of Vadstena and Granna. Granna is famous for making sweets so there are lots of colourful sweet shops in this pretty town. You are never far from a lake in Sweden, there are over 97,500!!! Many have picnic areas, a shelter with an open fire and a swimming area. Unfortunately it was too cold for swimming, although I did see one brave man swimming in lake vattern early one morning – bbbrrrrrr!
