Drove to Salen to do some downhill mountain biking. Salen is a pretty wooded ski resort that has half a dozen purpose built mountain bike routes. And the best thing is you can put your bike on the chair lifts and only ride down the hills!! There are a couple of fast flowing blue routes, a couple of more technical red routes with jumps, table tops and tight berms and a crazy black route which is like a very steep stair case made of rocks and tree roots. Rode all routes multiple times but only tried the black once!! Really great fun day. Had a rewarding beer at the end of the day at the lovely resort pub. At an eye watering £10 per pint we didn't stay for too long in the pub but went back to the beast for our cheap UK bought Aldi beer!! Hiccup! You would think that riding downhill all day would be easy but no, I was tired out and my legs were aching for days afterwards! Left Salen the next day to visit Leksand a pretty lakeside tourist town and our last stop in the Dalarna region before heading to Stockholm. Sweden is the third largest country in Europe and with a relatively low population you can drive for hours in this region on tree lined roads without passing a town or village. Makes for picturesque easy driving. See you in Sockholm. Love to all, Dawn and Mark xx
