Galicia, Santiago de Compostela
Pilgrim central. This is the most religious pilgrimage place after Rome and Lourdes all because of some very tenuous story about St James remains being found here. If you make it here on foot and get all your stamps along the way then you reduce your time in purgatory by half. The result of this is that this is a magnificent medieval city with a breath taking cathedral and stunning architecture every way you look. Really loved exploring the narrow twisting lanes…….and sampling the local tapas!! Padron chilli peppers were the best. Galacia is also white wine central in Spain so it would be rude not to sample a glass of Albarino and Ribero wine.
