Adventure before dementia

QLD Cairns

Thanks for all the comments, its really lovely hearing from you.  We are now in Cairns.  since we started our travels in the mini-beast everyone we have spoken to in the rest of Oz have said 'get yourself to Queensland and in particular Cairns'.  Well we are now here and first impressions aren't that amazing compared to everywhere else we have been!  It is nice, but really developed and a bit rough really.  It is the main stopping off place for visits to the great barrier reef so there are loads of tour operators here.  We have had a great couple of days though.  We went to a reef lecture to learn all about the great barrier reef, this was absolutely fantastic and hugely entertaining.  The guy delivering the lecture had the humour, body language and even the voice of Eddy Izzard with all the scientific knowledge of the reef - fantastic.  Yesterday was my birthday (thanks for all the emails and comments).  we had a great time whitewater rafting and then went for a meal at a fantastic Mod Oz restaurant.  The first meal out since we started our travels in the mini beast.  We had the Australian sharing platter to sample some bushtucker.  This included (avert your eyes Karen!) crocadile, walliby and kangeroo.  All very delicious.  We are off to Daintree rainforest today.  Only one week in the mini beast left - boo hoo! Bye for now, D xxx

Very funny Dad. Crocodile Mark says the portions weren't big enough to share with you! He wouldn't get his fair share. I don't think two men sharing a romantic meal would go down well here, inclusivity and open mindedness are not Oz personality traits. I'm surprised women have got the vote here!!! Still trucking on.
