World Adventure

Chiloe

AUSTRALIA | Monday, 29 September 2008 | Views [798]

Hola All,

Ok so we went to puerto montt and the hostels and town were dives. For example one hostel near the bus station had a room that was about 1m tall under the roof for 8000 chilean pesos. Not likely. So we jumped on a bus to ancud on the island of chiloe. Staying in a nice hostel with headroom on the waterfront near the fishermens boats. Nice view. Wandered around to another spanish armada fortress on the coast. Apparently this was the first port of call after ships rounded cape horn. Had to eat another dessert on the way here. We though that the bus station to hostel was only 5 minutes but turned out to be 25+ minutes. The direction was follow the road to the ocean then turn left. The ocean couldn´t be seen from the bus station.

Next day. Martin, our host, contacted navimag and changed our booking for...today! We raced off and caught the next bus to puerto montt and arrived with about 1.5hr to spare before boarding. So all that was left was to go and buy snacks for the trip and a berlin bun each of course.

Adios,

David& Vanessa
