The biking tour follows the Iron Curtain. Up until the mid 1960's, 10,000 volts of electricity flowed through the fences. 390 people died between 1948 and 1989 on the Czechoslovakia side of the border trying to cross and 654 border guards died although only 10 died from conflicts from border violators. The others died from suicide, electrocution, drowning or accidents with guns. The Iron Curtain stretched 7,250 km from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea and this section of the Iron Curtain in Clzov is the only preserved section in the Czech Republic.
