Joined by chops and larne on this one, only three days from touching down in London! Good effort!
Started out in Venice, flew in late and was raining when we got there!!not cool but guessin it added to the 'atmosphere'! took a boat over to the city and managed to find our hostel which was very flash and cosy! Set up camp and got some pizza slices and beer for the night. Spent the whole next day wandering the streets, via st marks square and the crazy windy streets of venice! Did a water bus for couple of euro instead of an eighty euro gondale ride - cheapies!! Had a big night in an irish pub - i nooo!! Was fun.
From venice missioned to florence which was a really cool city and again had a really cool hostel with bar, pool, gym, restaurant! Nice. Got to see the massive duomo, huge!! and the famous David statue - and many other statues! as well as the crazy bridge with all the little jewlery shops on it - where of course Dana found some very cool rings!!! no purchase. :( boys managed to head out that night and get coerced to going to a pub with a chick - only to have her bail on them when she found out they had girlfriends! Funny! Had no idea where they were - very drunk! managed to get a taxi back to our hostel - lucky one of them remembered the name!
From florence we hit the coast at Cinque Terre. Beauty spot, is on the west coast and is five fishing villages that are linked together by paths along the cliffs. Apparently the fishing men built the paths, which is called lovers lane, so that they could see their chicks at the next town. How sweet! - all done with just their hands and backs! thats dedication! We spent our time here wandering between the villages both on foot and via the train that also now links the villages. Was an excellent time out spot, lots of cheap wine, cards and laughs had!
On the way down to rome we stopped off at Pisa, basically missioned from the train station to the leaning tower to take a few photos, soak in a bit of atmosphere and then jumped back on the train! All good! Box ticked!
Rome was excellent! had no expectations whatsoever for the city and we loved it. Had such a good spot to stay - out of the city a bit at a campground in a chalet - deck, two bathrooms, kitchen - what more could you want!! Supermarket across the way so no more pizza!!! Thankyou!! We spent our four days crusin the city - we were lucky, in no rush to get to anything so missed all the early morning queues, we wandered the city with no hassles! Beauty weather to top it off!
Did all the big sights, trevi fountain - chocka, spanish steps - not worth it, palantine hill - absolutely amazing as was the roman forum, collosseum - wicked, vatican was amazing - mosaics in there absolutely stunning, vatican museum was HUGE and crazy cool. In between all that there were the amazing piazzas full of artists and buskers, very cool.
Overall it was a wicked trip, we loved it. Had a great time with chops and larne - very funny times. Bring on the next one!
