    Fishing is the main activity in Chioggia; it's not only done in the lagoon and in the open sea but also along the coast. In this photo big nets, called “balanse”, are operated from inside the wooden house: they are shortly dropped under water and once pulled up fish, crabs and marine stars can be collected. by: dailylife Views[327] The relation between man and wildlife involves mutual exchanges. Man invades the animal kingdom to capture fish and shellfish while a heron finds shelter in the shade of the Chioggia pier while searching for some food between the resting nets. by: dailylife Views[284] Only hundred years ago some sailors managed to Chioggia is also known as
