A 'place' I have visited

I always lived in different countries because I think that's the best way to understand a new culture and soak up the spirit of a place (as well as investigate your own).
Recently I took a life changing decision: I quit my job to pursue a dream. I started traveling as I'm always curious about discovering new things, seeing new places or meeting new people but if I spend few days without my camera I feel a little lost.

Photography can be used as a mean to meat people, bringing them together, learn about other cultures, it can give you inspiration, motivation, can make you feel happy or sad, give you the chance to travel also when you can't, share experiences and save memories.

This internship is a great opportunity to learn from a great mentor. I will be able to see the secrets of a professional photographer who works for a prestigious magazine and experience in first person how he documents great stories.
It will also help me to understand if this can become my career and, if this is the case, it would be the best possible kick start.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm Luca, 31 and I recently took a life changing decision. After more than 6 years working in IT I quit my job to pursue a dream. I'm Italian but I've been living in many different places (Scotland, California, Switzerland and now London) and this has been a very difficult step because I left a stable income for something unknown.
Photography has always been a passion of mine but I had alternate success: my pictures were very important to me but this was because I knew what was behind each one of them, their story, how I got there and how I was feeling in that moment; I could also see that to an objective viewer I was not able to express my intentions. For this reason I decided to read more about photography, study articles and practice. I quickly noticed how applying the basic techniques in a methodic way I was able to improve the quality of my photos; this was surprising because it seemed odd that applying a mathematical formula was helping me to improve something that I consider artistic and creative.
I cannot stress enough the importance of practice and my next step is to dedicate more time to my photos, both traveling around the world or simply walking around my neighborhood.
