    Fishing is the main activity in Chioggia; it's not only done in the lagoon and in the open sea but also along the coast. In this photo big nets, called “balanse”, are operated from inside the wooden house: they are shortly dropped under water and once pulled up fish, crabs and marine stars can be collected.
