In Jaipur, almost every shopkeeper would shout, "Korea? Japan? China?" or "Oh your English is so good!" If I impressed a shopkeeper with a few phrases in Hindi and stubborn offers when bargaining, I would feel strange when I heard mumbles of "These Chinese bargain so hard". It seemed so unfair, to represent 1.4 billion people in a country I had no citizenship in, to someone who would be unlikely to see people of East Asian descent again anytime soon.
