Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: one girl's quest to see the world

So so so annoyed

The internet at the hostel is terrible. It just has these spasms where it doesn't work for a minute or two or three, but it continues to deduct your time. Well I was checking email just now and trying to check in for my flight and I had two minutes left, just enough time to check-in, and then all of a sudden: it freezes. I am now seconds away from being logged off and having to start all over again so I put another 2 CHF coin into the slot except it was a 5 CHF coin. Which means I now have 50 minutes of internet time (plenty to check-in with I suppose) and only 5 CHF left for dinner. Boo!

Went to the opera house today. No formal tours but they did let me wander around in the lobby a bit. Like every other opera house I've seen on this trip: no pictures allowed. Which sucks. Also went to the museum and they did indeed have a substantial DADA exhibit except most of the pieces were ones loaned to the DADA exhibit that toured last year. The same exhibit I saw in DC in February and in NY in August. Yep, liked the art the same I liked it the last two times.

Now I'm back at the hostel (with 46 more minutes of internet time...) to shower and pack up for tomorrow. Finished 'Midnight's Children' this morning over breakfast and have the same sense of withdrawl I always get when I finish a really good novel. It was as wonderful as everyone promised. The tangled epic makes me want to read 'The Brothers Karamazov' yet again, but that will have to wait. This weekend is Harry Potter time. :-)

As this will be my last post from Europe, I want to take this moment to thank everyone who commented and messaged me with trip ideas or responses to something I posted. As I have said before I really do like traveling alone, but it can get lonely every once in a while, and it is nice to know your friends are there and interested in what you have to say about the trip. So thanks!

Next up, New York in July. The heat. The stench. The insufferable stickiness. Here I come! Also, my one year anniversary with the city will be on July 31 and any suggestions for celebration ideas are greatly accepted. Perhaps a trapeeze class? :-)
