Athens & Stockholm

SWEDEN | Thursday, 26 July 2012 | Views [564]

Athens turned out to be quite the happening city. We had unbelievable weather for our stay along with awesome Greek food and good company. It was an enjoyable end to our hot weather streak! The Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus were a 5 minute walk away from our hostel making sight seeing in Athens cheap and easy.
We flew from Athens to Stockholm, Sweden on the 24th just in time for the end of their heat wave! Stockholm is an amazing city. Very pretty. After a late flight and a goodnights sleep in our gorgeous hotel (clean towels and free coffee!) we set out to explore the city. Walking around the city is quite an delightful activity when you are able to take in sights such as the Swedish Palace and the Old Town area. Very pretty and a great atmosphere! We decided that for our last day in Sweden we were going to use our Eurorail pass to travel outside of the city to go golfing. I mean how often can you say you went golfing in Sweden? Well, after a 30 minute train ride, a 15 minute bus ride to Hungswagen, Sweden and then a 30 minute walk we ended up in the middle of nowhere. The bus driver told us what stop to get out at and then pointed in the direction of the military base at the end of the road. I think we had a bit of a miscommunication and we ended up hiking through the forest to some random field with no people or golf course in sight. Long story short, we bussed back to the train station and had a delicious lunch and went back to Stockholm. It was fun even though we still cant say we went golfing in Sweden.
Tomorrow we are off to London for the Olympics! One more week of travel :S
