Berlin and Prague

CZECH REPUBLIC | Friday, 29 June 2012 | Views [326]

Yesterday was our last day In Berlin so we took in the rest of the tourist activities we hadn't done yet. We visited the Holocaust memorial first and observed the sculpture garden outside that consists of black concrete blocks of different heights for a city block. Google it, looks a lot more cool than it sounds. We ventured further into Berlin to view a standing section of the Berlin wall followed by Checkpoint Charlie which used to be the crossing point between the US and German sides of Berlin. We rested up for a bit and visited our favorite Mexican restaurant for a third time. Delicious. Germany was playing Italy in the semi final Eurocup game and we went downtown Berlin to Brandenburg Gate were they had a huge fan park set up. There were thousands of people there decked out in German gear including my boys who purchased knockoff German jerseys from a tourist shop. The game was packed and fun, sadly Germany lost but on the plus side there was not a riot! Weooo!
We arrived in Prague today and have fallen in love with the city. It is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of history and finally good weather. It's a bit of a shock to the system but we will get used to it quickly... Forecast for tomorrow is 30 and sunny! The hostel we are staying in is literally right on st. Charles Bridge in the heart of old Prague. It's absolutely amazing! Tonight the plan is to go on a ghosts and legends tour of old Prague, cannot wait to share more stories about this amazing city! That is if we make it back from our ghost tour tonight.... Later days!
