So the house has been fully packed up, prepared for the renter and all our extra things in storage. The last two weeks have been crazy with all the preparations just to get on the road. But we did it and are in our first leg of our journey. Only two days behind schedule – not bad considering Chris worked until the last possible day and had delusions of turning in his work car and continuing to drive out of town.
We drove up to Washington (Yakima) to visit my grandmother for a couple days, then to my parents (Spokane) to visit and drop off Jackson. They have volunteered (although maybe more like begged) to take care of him while Chris and I sail the British Virgin Islands for a week with friends. Thank you Mom, Dad, Dan and Andy!
Although we have had other details we are continuing to work out (like buying a new laptop to communicate on the road, downloading books onto my Kindle and making sure we have Dramamine on the boat), we are beginning to relax and starting to feel as though we are actually starting on this wonderful adventure.
So tonight is the big night. One more long drive to Seattle and then flying away tonight to St. Thomas. Eight lovely days await us sailing, sunning and very likely drinking the days away. Envy-inducing pictures to follow.
