At short distances with life I have always wanted to dedicate myself fully to documentary, wildlife and nature photography, being able to go around our world and reflecting every one of the noteworthy aspects that it has.

My Scholarship entry - Antarctica: to live in coexistence

Antarctica | Wednesday, November 12, 2014 | 5 photos

After I graduated in Journalism in 2013, I started to distribute my working time between working as a freelance journalist in digital media as well as a collaborator for news agencies. However, I always try to spend as much time as possible to photograph wildlife and nature wherever I go.

I want to share experiences. I want to share moments of life to which others are not able to reach.

Living on an island all my life has taught me how limited it may become the world we have at hand. Photography has become my tool to overstep that boundary, to go further and bring pictures of stories that others have only heard about.

I have always wanted to dedicate myself fully to documentary, wildlife and nature photography, being able to go around the world and reflecting every one of the noteworthy aspects that our world has.

Last year I was also awarded with the Sant Telmo Journalism Award in Antarctic Awards for Science, Technology and Environment. My job was to make a short documentary for the Latin American community over the course of our trip on King George Island, in the South Shetlands Islands of Antarctica (http://goo.gl/fvNXAx). It was the most amazing experience of my life, where I discovered first hand how life goes on the frozen continent and how everything has surrendered to it.

My hope is to work someday with organizations that promote positive change for our planet, hoping to be able to maintain what we have inherited after so many centuries. One of the best ways for it would be the renowned National Geographic. It is its ability to go deeply into the themes of its stories and the value of its photography section what always manages to surprise me.

After so long, I hope that this opportunity will take me to perform what I have so longed for. With the help of Jason it can be realized.

About carluscp

The chinstrap penguin is one of the different species of penguin which is found the South Shetlands. Among all the local fauna, it was he who was more curious about my camera, approaching at a distance that I hardly could ever have imagined.
