Surviving Between Mountains

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

El Volcán was a symbol of industrial progress in Chile, until 1973 when the military coup took prisoners most of its habitants because they were left wing sympathizers, as a result, the mine stopped working. Nowadays it is abandoned, only six families live there of more than a thousand people that were before the coup.
