Surviving Between Mountains

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

El Volcán is a small town in the middle of the Cordillera de los Andes, 80km from Santiago, the capital of Chile. The mountains seem to protect this group of houses that in the past was a mining camp. A gypsum and a copper mine functions there since the 1800`s. In its heyday it produced 40% of the copper of Chile.
