My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Caitlin Finnerty, I’m 19 years old and currently studying for a Bachelor of Design. I first realized my love for photography when the opportunity to take it as a class at my high school came along. Everyday I learnt something new, and the more I learnt the more I realized what a powerful tool a camera was. The lesson I learnt most was that a photographer is someone who can look at the quite ordinary and turn it into the extra ordinary.
What I find the most rewarding is the thought that a sometimes seemingly insignificant moment can be captured at a press of a button. A single moment of time forever remembered. The power photography has, and therefore the photographer, is the ability to convey feelings, thoughts, personalities and more. There are so many ways a single photograph can be interpreted. To be a part of this process and to create something completely new is what fuels my passion for photography.
I am constantly learning, I make many mistakes, but I also take risks. I think that this scholarship, and learning from Jason, would be very valuable and could help improve my photography skills exponentially.
