A cooked
breakfast to start the day – bacon, qorn sausages, onion, mushroom, egg and
toast. Tasty!
After midday
we hit the road for Crawley, this is where Roni’s family lived when she was
born but she hadn’t seen it since being a baby. Through Crawley we drove to
Ifield where we searched out Ifield Hall where they used to live. We parked up
and took the dogs out for a wander as we explored the property – we were
discovered by a couple who had popped by to see their horses. They were uber
helpful and walked us all over the place telling us about the history they knew
and showing us what they could, the two memorials have been relocated – on to
the golf club and another to the family who initially owned the property but we
were able to see a lot before Milo immersed himself in the recently re-dug pond
(about 95% mud!).
Time then to
hose the dogs off and run them around to dry off before hopping back in the car
for a trip to the hospital and through Crawley town itself. Many photos later
and we were make on the M25 then heading to Windsor. This was unscheduled but
Laura wanted to show us some of her favourite places so we dropped the car at
her Mum’s place, picked up Kate her little sis then walked the dogs through
town and up to the castle. Some cute places here including the Guild Hall and
‘crooked cafe’ among others, we explored until dark when it started to drizzle
so we headed back to Laura’s Mum’s house. Here we fare welled the whānau
before hitting the road again back to Codicote.
Once home
Bray did a practise pack while Laura and Rawiri created a delicious chicken
tikka before we relaxed over the movie Bootmen
and games of Citadels and PS3 for the
boys before bed.
